Mathematics intelligent tutoring system for learning multiplication and division of fractions based on diagnostic teaching

This paper develops and evaluates a dialogue-based mathematics intelligent tutoring system (ITS) for teaching multiplication and division of fractions to sixth graders, using diagnostic teaching methods to identify student misconceptions in real-time and provide adaptive instruction. A quasi-experimental study with 66 students showed the ITS significantly outperformed conventional classroom instruction, particularly for lower-performing students.
